G-Tuck Classic

The G-Tuck Classic is a basketball showcase highlighting the memory of the late Gregory Tucker, a talented athlete and father whose life was taken from gun violence. Over the years, the event has expanded to include more individuals and professional athletes from various basketball communities throughout Chicago. The highlight of the day is the pro-game which features various college, overseas, and NBA pros who show up and support the cause in a safe, friendly, and welcoming environment. 

Shoot For the Stars (SFTS) aims to build off the “G-Tuck Classic” to provide more support and relief to individuals, families, and communities impacted by gun violence. With 501c3 status, SFTS is able to accept and utilize larger donations to this cause. In the past, all proceeds from the tournament were given to Greg's daughter’s college fund. SFTS now seeks to create opportunities for other children in similar positions. In five years, SFTS has granted a $1,000 scholarship to nearly 10 students who have lost a parent to gun violence.

As we continue this mission, SFTS strives to have at least 5 recipients for financial aid with more opportunities added each year. As the organization grows, we also aim to provide alternative support to all Chicago communities in need.
